I introduced a bill in 2005 that was part of a legislative package to stop large-scale water diversions. I believe the Great Lakes should be held in public trust for our children and future generations to use and enjoy. The Great Lakes and our other waterways are a vital part of our environment and our economy in northern Michigan and the U.P., and they must be protected.

As we all know, the price of gas has skyrocketed, and so has our dependence on foreign oil. Our citizens pour their hearts into their jobs only to pour their paychecks into the gas pump. I have introduced legislation to help reduce this dependence.
